Once upon a time, a little girl in shark goggles ran around the beach and asked people if they'd like her to sing. She rarely waited for an answer...
I grew up in Baltimore, MD, where I spent most of my time doing things similar to what is described above. Raised in the Baltimore theater community, I later headed to NYC and graduated from Pace University's BFA Musical Theater program in 2015.
Since then, I've been active in the regional theater and TV/Film Industries. I recently wrapped Episode 312 of the Path on Hulu, playing Astrid, a young photography student who helps a main character explore life outside of his cult. It was a blast!
I am also a co-producer with Stinger Pictures, a production company founded by my dear friend Evan Margolis. Together, we co-produced and co-starred in a short film called Grounded, which was features at the Golden Door International Film Festival last October. I also played a small role in Stinger project Dear Sylvia, a documentary about a woman dealing with memory loss, and starred in the Stinger web series Josh Has a Genie. Our next project will be a music video collaboration with musical duo Heroine.
I find my work as an educator and coach to be the most rewarding. In 2015, I founded Kelsey Lake Coaching, a audition coaching service for high school students hoping to attend selective college theater programs. The amazing organization Artists Striving to End Poverty has become an enormous part of my life; in 2016, I traveled to India with them to teach musical theater. For the past two summers, I have worked with them as the storytelling teacher at the Refugee Youth Summer Academy, run by the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Since then, I've expanded my role at the IRC to include tutoring and art programming at their Saturday Learning Series.
I am most motivated by the ways all of my passions can work together to create a fulfilling, inspired, and service-oriented life: Telling stories that empower others as an actress/producer (perhaps even as a writer), helping others find their voices as a teaching artist, and spreading the power of arts education all over the world!
