Once upon a time, a little girl in shark goggles ran around the beach and asked people if they'd like her to sing. She rarely waited for an answer...
Kelsey grew up in Baltimore, MD, where she spent most of her time doing things similar to what is described above. Raised in the Baltimore theater community, she later headed to NYC to pursue her dreams and graduated from Pace University's BFA Musical Theater program in 2015.
Since school, Kelsey co-starred in a web series called Josh Has a Genie, was nominated for Best Actress in the 2016 LA Webfest, earned her Equity card playing Wendla in the Hangar Theatre's incredible production of Spring Awakening, played Anne in a reading of the new Anne of Green Gables musical, produced and co-starred in the short film Grounded, guest starred on an episode of Amazon's Red Oaks, and played the lead role in a workshop of Grammy-winner JT Harding's new musical, Music City USA.
As an educator, Kelsey is determined to empower others through the performing arts. Last year, she founded Kelsey Lake Coaching, a college audition coaching service for high school students hoping to attend selective college theater programs. This July, Kelsey worked with Artists Striving to End Poverty, teaching filmmaking at the Refugee Summer Youth Academy in NYC. In September, she traveled with ASTEP to Shanti Bhavan, a residential school in rural India, teaching musical theater to 100+ amazing young people.
Most importantly, Kelsey loves her cat and crab soup. Her heart will always live in Baltimore!
